Five years ago, after 12 years of freelance photography and darkroom
set-ups in our apartment bathroom, I switched from film to digital and
started this business. I started with
close to nothing. I chose to build it using no credit, relearning my
skills with a DSLR, offering free sessions and doing everything I could
to get my name out there. I've yet to spend a dime on advertising. I've
bought each flash, camera, second and third camera, lens and prop with
the help of my wonderful family, peers, my friends and clients. In these
five years I've grown, I've lost a mother, gained another beautiful
daughter, sold and bought another home, switched cities, I've been
frustrated, second guessed myself, compared myself to others, tried and
failed but never gave up. I look back at photos from my early days and
where I am now and I feel pride. I'm shocked and humbled at the
realization of knowing this is my work, I built this, I own this and I
love it.
Without you guys I would just be a crazed photo fanatic taking way too many photos of the dog and my kids. There is no amount of words to express how truly thankful I am for all of your support.
So now that I got all the mushy stuff out of the way,I'm going to do what I do every year on my "BoX" birthday.
It's time for me to pay it forward! I'll be posting details to a free session and 16x20 gallery wrapped canvas shortly. Thank you so much!!!
